The Bench - Morther - first attempt

The first attempt on the morther was to create the emotions directly, in order to better understand the different facial expression some research was done into what the different expressions look like.

This image was found and it aided in the design of the facial expression for the bench, as the bench was primarily just a face this was one of the most important part of animation, to make the viewer understand the emotions going on with the bench.

To begin the morther process the bench model was copied a number of times, and the morther added to the main target. Each morth target was named to make identifying there purpose easier to understand.

The Happy face was done by lifting the bench frame to begin with, the center of the mouth was lowered and with a slight soft selection added to make the dragging shaping and easier. The eye brows where slightly raised. The expression looked too much, the smile was too large and there was no variations of this.

The angry face went very well, and looked very much like the bench was angry, the center eye brow was lowered and the frame kept in its natural shape. The mouth was slightly dropped and the lower lip was shaped unevenly. The Control of this expression was very limited, and does not allow for much change.

The Sad face was my favourite face, the face looks very sad, maybe a little too much. The eyes where opened wider, the framework dropped and the top and bottom lips are lowered, the eyebrow is raised.

The morth targets that have been created, are very limited on controls, for the purposes of the animation more control was needed. The targets where to to be broken up into different stages.
